Selected Guest Lectures and Workshops
-
At the PhD Summer School Analyzing Classroom Interaction at the University of Groningen, I delivered the workshop “An Introduction to Linguistic Ethnography” (invited by Myrte Gosen, 2025). I particularly enjoyed engaging with PhD researchers from a range of disciplinary backgrounds and discussing researcher positionality in their projects.
-
At the University of Duisburg-Essen, in the course Methoden und Theorien der Soziolinguistik, I gave the guest lecture “Linguistische Ethnographie über und mit Kindern” (invited by Nantke Pecht, 2022). It was a pleasure to teach in German.
-
At the University of Münster, in the course Van Uk & Puk tot Nijntje en juf Roos: Educatieve media voor jonge taalleerders, I taught the guest lecture “Kinderopvang als arena voor taalsocialisatie: Ontluikende geletterdheid” (invited by Dietha Koster, 2022). This gave me the opportunity to explore emerging literacy practices observed during my PhD fieldwork.
Supervision
I have experience supervising student assistants, thesis students, and researchers at B.A., M.A., and PhD level. I am currently the daily supervisor of PhD candidate Maartje Roodzant, whose project focuses on affirmation in psychotherapy and counselling (co-supervised with Wyke Stommel and Bogdana Huma).
Professional Development
I obtained the University Teaching Qualification in 2023. My professional development in teaching continues through further training and peer exchange. For example, I completed the course Supervising PhDs at Radboud University in 2026 and I am a member of a regular intervision group.
